[ale] howto improve ps2pdf output

Anyone have any tips for how to improve the output of ps2pdf? When I use
it on an OpenOffice doc written in arial and courrier new, the resulting
pdf file is very rough when printed. Definitely no where near the
quality of Adobe Acrobat. Anyone know of any tricks to improve the
quality of pdf files create w/ ps2pdf or any other utilities that work
better?
