[ale] rsynth help needed

Hi All,

	I have installed rsynth-2.0 from tar ball on my RedHat 7.3 system.  
No errors on compiling or installing.  I want to get it working with 
vgetty for my voice mail.  The problem is there is no sound.  Also no 
error messages given when the program is run.  According to the 
documentation I should be able to issue the following command and hear the 
word "hello" come from the speakers

say hello

What I get is:

[jim at nuthatch jim]$ say hello
Actual sound rate: 8000

and no sound.  Anyone out there using rsynth for text to voice that can 
help guide me to the problem?
